New Iberia--It is with much sadness that the family announce the passing of 98-year-old Daisy Jones (1927-2026) on January 27th after a 7-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Until the end, Daisy maintained her love of family and friends, appreciation for beauty and her feistiness.
Daisy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Jack & Marlene Gilcrease, daughter and son-in-law Dian & John Blizzard, daughter and daughter-in-law Sharon Hale & Brenda Imler, daughter and son-in-law Kim & John Finck, daughter-in-law Annette Jones, and stepson and daughter-in-law Mitch and Tammy Jones. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson, along with numerous extended family members.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Timothy Dwyer, Robert Dwyer (great-grandson), Travis Finck (grandson), William Finck (great-grandson), Tyler Lee, and Beck Lee (great-grandson).
Predeceased by her first husband of 18 years and father of her children, Lendol Hale, her husband of 46 years, William Robert (Bob) Jones, parents Russell and Willie Mae Gilcrease, sister and brother-in-law Jessie and Dick Hammontree, niece Tanya Hammontree and stepson Charles Jones.
A 43-year resident of New Iberia, Louisiana, Daisy was a devout Christian who enjoyed going to church and singing in the choir, reading, gardening, cooking, walking and true crime shows.
She especially enjoyed family holiday gatherings and her grandkids.
The family would like to thank the staff of Creekside Alzheimer’s Special Care Center and the staff of Integrity Hospice for their supportive care of Daisy.
Daisy was much loved by her family and friends, and is dearly missed.
Services will be held February 7th at 1 PM, with visitation at noon at Frioux-David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St., New Iberia, LA.
