Listen to Obituary

Erath – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Clovis “CJ” Stoute, 91, will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, September 07, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Sensat officiating. Interment will follow at LeBlanc Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:00AM until the time of service at Frioux Funeral Home of Erath with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.

CJ was a man of few words, choosing instead to let his steady presence and strong work ethic speak for him. He committed over 40 years of hard work to the oil field with Phillips 66, retiring with a reputation for loyalty and reliability. In his retirement, CJ found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He could almost always be found rocking in his favorite chair on the porch, contentedly watching the world go by and warmly waving to everyone who passed. His friendly gesture became a staple of the neighborhood, bringing a sense of comfort and community to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Estella Badon Stoute; three daughters, Rita Moss, Theresa Stoute, and Gwen Bodin and her husband Sean; two sons, Martin Stoute, and Clovis John Stoute, Jr. and his wife Linda; a brother, Louie Stoute and his wife Kathy; nineteen grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Estelle Faulk Stoute; a daughter, Kathy Kirkconnell; a son, Tony Stoute; a son-in-law, Everett Moss; a daughter-in-law, Susan Stoute; and a granddaughter, Addison Stoute.

Serving as pallbearers will be A.J. Moss, Tate Bodin, Justin Punch, Joshua Carriere, Taylor Broussard, and Brian Laug.

Frioux Funeral Home of Erath at 209 East Putnam Street (337) 937-0405 will be handling the arrangements.
