Cecil passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and a life lived with wholehearted devotion. In his younger years, he was an avid runner, embracing every mile with the same enthusiasm and determination that he later brought to all aspects of his life.
A true foodie, Cecil loved discovering new restaurants and savoring fresh flavors. Later in life, circumstances steered him into the world of cooking—an unexpected path that quickly became a new passion. He not only excelled in the kitchen but found genuine joy in creating meals that brought comfort, connection, and delight to those around him.
Cecil also cherished his life on the farm, where he cared for a wide variety of animals. Whether tending to them at sunrise or simply enjoying their gentle presence, he approached every creature with patience, kindness, and a deep sense of responsibility.
Those who knew Cecil will remember him as a good-natured, kind-hearted man who loved with his whole heart. His compassion, warmth, and ability to make others feel truly seen will continue to live on in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Norma Glover; a daughter, Claire Carluen and her husband Elvin; and three grandchildren, Harrison Bagwell, Darin Carluen, and Becca Carluen.
He is preceded in death by a wife, Phyllis Broussard Chatman; a son, John Chatman; and his parents, Cecil Chatman, Sr. and Neola Monceaux Chatman.
