Carolyn Ann Barnes passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025. She was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love for her hometown. She was devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and faithfully served her church throughout her life. Carolyn cherished her family deeply—she was a caring daughter to Archibold and Thelma Klein, a strong and beautiful mother to Michael and Lisa, and a beloved “Gramme” to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A proud graduate of Warren Easton High School in 1959, Carolyn was a spirited sorority girl and a diehard Elvis fan. A true New Orleanian, she loved the Saints, all things football—especially the Manning family—and spent countless hours watching sports with her son Michael and grandsons. She also adored her PT Cruiser, K&B Drug Store, and her loyal dog, Jonah.

Carolyn was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Canal Street. Her faith was deepened through several pilgrimages to Medjugorje, where she experienced a profound encounter with the Blessed Mother Mary. She held a special devotion to the Most Holy Sacrament, Divine Mercy, and the Holy Rosary, and in her later years, she found joy in EWTN programs. Carolyn was an ardent supporter of her Church and Saint Pope John Paul II.

After retiring from LSU Medical Center with 33 years of service, Carolyn embraced her calling as a missionary, serving Jesus and His Church across New Orleans, Lafayette, and beyond through Breath of Life Ministries and Family Missions Company. Following Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Abbeville, Louisiana, continuing her ministry work and participating in missionary journeys to Mexico. Her heart overflowed with mercy for both the poorest of the poor and the richest of the rich.

Affectionately nicknamed “Grambo,” Carolyn was admired for her fighting spirit and courage in overcoming numerous life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Her life was a testament to resilience, faith, and love. All who were blessed to know her rejoice in the hope that she is now in glory, embraced by the Father’s heart in heaven.

She is survived by her children, Michael Barnes and his wife Kelli, and Lisa Yarborough and her husband David; her grandchildren, Michael Deluca Barnes, Emma Clair Barnes, Hollis Robertson and her husband Quinton, Dean Yarborough, Noah Yarborough and his wife Jordan, MaryGrace Yarborough, Cameron Yarborough, and Hailey Yarborough; and her great-grandchildren, Fyodor Robertson, Murphy Robertson, and Frances Robertson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Louis Barnes; and her parents, Archibald Klein and Thelma Morgan Klein.
