Carole Schmidt Hall, loving mother and grandmother, well known as MawMaw, reunited with the love of her life Ed Hall, well known as PawPaw, on the morning of December 18, 2025. Carole, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa, grew up in her home city before moving to New Smyrna Beach, FL. where she met and eventually married Ed. Ten years later, Ed’s work took them to New Iberia, LA, where she would spend the next 50 years flourishing, living life to the fullest.
Carole was the shining light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She made a career as an office professional and enjoyed interacting with people every day. She enjoyed going on trips, playing card games, solving puzzles, and watching reality TV. From holiday gatherings to spontaneous visits from her family who lived out of state, Carole always looked forward to spending time with family and friends. Two things that she looked forward to most were having Sunday dinner with her family, and her nightly calls with her beloved granddaughter, Kari. She will be missed greatly by many.
Carole was preceded in death by her dearest husband of 54 years, Ed Hall; parents, William Carl and Lillian Niles Schmidt; sisters, Joan Aikens, and Constance Schmidt. She is survived by her children, Robert “Bobby” Holmes (Lisa), Shari Hebert (Kenny), David Holmes (Tara), and Edward Hall; grandchildren, Kari Mann (Joseph), Nora Holmes, and Kaley Holmes; adopted granddaughter Demi Mixon (Chance). She also leaves behind many family and friends who will miss her dearly, including her bonus daughter Donna Soileau, her adored neighbors the Koch’s, caregiver and friend Amanda Migues, and her nurses Rene Collins and Melanie LeBlanc.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Robert Holmes, David Holmes, Joseph Mann V, and Kenneth Hebert.
