New Iberia–A Celebration of life will be conducted for Brian “Dupe” Duplantis, age 66, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia, from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 1:00 p.m.
Born in Omaha, NE. and resident of New Iberia, Brian “Dupe” Duplantis passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Brian was a man of passion and dedication. From his deep love for music and strumming his guitar to his dedicated work ethic, he put his whole self into everything he did. After retiring from American Meter (Nebraska City, NE), he picked up where he left off with friends in Louisiana riding motorcycles like he was a teenager again. Also, an avid animal lover his entire life, he spent much of his last years with his best friend, Ginger. But of all his accomplishments, Brian was most proud of raising his four children.
Though he carried himself with discipline and seriousness, those closest to him knew his playful and silly side. He found great joy in playing, coaching, and encouraging his children and others in the community through sports and scouting, always striving to build confidence and character in those around him.
Brian was devoted to his family and spent many years compassionately caring for aging relatives. He raised his children in the Catholic faith and lived his life with the hope of one day earning a place in Heaven closest to God.
Brian’s legacy is one of showing up for the people he loved, giving his time and heart to his family and community, and continually striving to become a better man each day.
Brian “Dupe” Duplantis is survived by his mother, Rebecca Durr Duplantis; his children, Bren Duplantis, Steven Duplantis, Jami Duplantis Gomez (Chris), Jacob Duplantis (fiancé Ciera Hansen); grandchildren, Gracyn Duplantis, Leyton Duplantis, Mya Duplantis, Addy Hansen, Jolie Gomez, Eleanna Duplantis, Evelyn Gomez, Brooklynn Duplantis; one sister, Denise D. Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Duplantis, and his beloved dog, Ginger.
The family would like to thank Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation of Franklin, and Traditions Hospice for all their kindness and support.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to ALZ.org (Alzheimer’s Association) will be appreciated by Brian Duplantis’ family.
