New Iberia ~ Funeral Services for Mr. Bong Xa Tang, 60, will be held at 11:00AM, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia.
Born in Vietnam, Mr. Bong Xa Tang immigrated to the United States in 1989 in pursuit of a better life for his family. A hardworking and humble man, he built a life rooted in simplicity, selflessness, and resilience. He worked as a sous chef at a Japanese restaurant in Disney World, and later as a blue crab fisherman where his passion for food and his strong work ethic shone through. He found joy in the little things—drinking his favorite Miller Lite, tending to his chickens and fighting roosters, and growing herbs with a green thumb that could coax life from the toughest soil. He lived off the land, fished and trolled with skill, and never needed much to be content. His frugality was legendary, but so was his generosity of spirit. Low maintenance yet full of life, he was always the heart of every gathering. His family remembers him as selfless, loving, and fiercely devoted to their happiness and success. He pushed them to be better, not for his own sake, but for theirs. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the love he gave unconditionally.
Mr. Bong Xa Tang is survived by his wife, Sa Ray Thi Thach of New Iberia; one son, Saphet Tang of Spring, TX; and two daughters, Savuan Tang of Rosharon, TX and Saxanh Thach of Rosharon, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nghiet Tran and Kim Thi Hien.
