Betty Lou Verret

Jeanerette – Memorial Services for Mrs. Betty Lou Touchet Verret, 82, will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Frioux-David Funeral of Jeanerette. Burial will take place at a later date.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00PM until the time of service. 

It is with loving remembrance that we celebrate the life of Betty, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth filled every room she entered.

Betty was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. Her children and family were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into caring for them. Whether offering advice, sharing stories, or simply listening, she made everyone feel valued and cherished. Her love was steady, generous, and unconditional.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Betty loved playing bingo, delighting in the thrill of the game and the laughter it brought. She also had a special place in her heart for her cats, caring for them with the same tenderness she showed her family.

Betty was especially known for her cooking. Her kitchen was a gathering place, filled with comforting aromas and the promise of a delicious meal. Family and friends will forever remember her famous roast and white beans, her rich shrimp and okra gumbo, and her flavorful crawfish stew. Each dish was made with love, seasoned with tradition, and served with a smile. Sharing a meal at Betty’s table meant more than just good food—it meant togetherness.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Verret; two daughters, Jennifer Verret and Karen Landry and her husband Joey; a grandson, Joey Landry, Jr.; and three sisters, Linda LaSalle, Margie Verret, and Claudette Cooper.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Trudy Verret; a sister, Mary Joyce Bourque; and a brother, Daniel Bourque, Sr.
