Born and raised in Erath, Mrs. Barbara Brown Dugas passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Woodbriar Assisted Living where she was a resident for the past three years. She grew up in a very close-knit extended family, forming bonds with her cousins that remained strong and cherished throughout her life. She and her husband Wilmer made their home in Sulphur for more than 50 years after relocating for his work. There, they built a life grounded in faith, service, and friendship. Mrs. Barbara was an active member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church where she and Wilmer formed strong bonds within the Knights of Columbus community. She was also a Catholic Daughter and a longtime member of a Ladies Pokeno Group, treasuring the fellowship and friendships it brought into her life. A loving Godmother, she embraced her role with pride, offering encouragement and unwavering love. Barbara’s wit and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sister, Josie Brown Arceneaux Luke and her husband David; her sister-in law, Mona Dugas Nunez and her husband Pat; her brother-in law Marc Dugas and Esta; her nephews, Troy Arceneaux (Denise), Scott Nunez (Shawn), and Bobby Exley; her nieces, Lisa Arceneaux Druzbik (James), Jennifer Vegas (Eddie), Erica Dugas, and Angel Dugas; her numerous great nieces and nephews; and her beloved Godchildren Carolyn Montgomery, Cathy Decuir, Lisa Druzbik, and Robert Broussard.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Wilmer James Dugas; her parents, Joseph Camille Brown and Sadie Broussard Brown Webb; and her brother-in law, Patrick Arceneaux.

The Family would like to thank her caregivers Chloe, Cassandra, Connie, and especially Ms. Diana Trahan for her love and compassion.
