Allen "Jimmy" Viator

New Iberia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Allen "Jimmy" Viator, 85, at 11:00AM, on July 16, 2025, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Matthew Higginbotham officiating. Entombment will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin at 8:30AM, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of New Iberia and continue until the time of service.

Mr. Allen "Jimmy" Viator, known to his friends and family as Jimmy, passed away on July 15, 2025. A lifetime resident of Iberia Parish, Jimmy was born on August 28, 1939 to Voorhies Viator and Lena Broussard. He was employed by Texaco for many years and was a very talented woodworker for many years. He loved fishing, hunting, and traveling. He loved his three sons. He was an outstanding boxer for his high school in the late 1950s. Jimmy was a kind and helpful man to all who who knew him. 

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Vernelle Myers Viator; his three sons, Jimmy Jude Viator and his wife Tammy, Danny Jude Viator and Bobby Jude Viator and his wife Shawn; his grandchildren, Jacob Ray Viator, Kaitlyn V. Daugereau, Janzen Viator, Elijah James Viator, Christian LeBlanc, and Julien LeBlanc; his great grandchildren, Addyson Rae Viator, Riley Jude Viator, Norah Grace Daugereau, Harrison Daugereau, Riley Daugereau, Owen Daugereau, one daughter-in-law Krista Viator; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Grace and her husband Michael;  nephews, Greg Grace and his wife Pamela and Lexi Grace and Colt.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Danny Jude Viator II, his in-laws, Lula and Annery Myers; his brother Eddie Viator and his wife Marion; and many cousins.

The family is  most grateful to Hospice of Acadiana for the great care and kindness they extended to Jimmy and his family and a special thanks to Carol.
