Alice Gary Martinez

New Iberia–Funeral Services will be conducted for Alice G. Martinez, age 93, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Frioux Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Garrett Savoie officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Marcellus Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and resume on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday, April 27, 2026, evening at 6:00 p.m.

A native of Delcambre and resident of New Iberia, Alice G. Martinez passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2025 at Iberia Manor South.

Alice Martinez, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Known to many as a best friend and a constant source of joy, Alice had a deep love for dancing and spending time with those she held dear. She and her late husband, Charles, shared countless evenings together at the VFW and the American Legion, where they built lasting friendships and created a lifetime of treasured moments surrounded by family and community.

Alice was a proud and active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the American Legion and the VFW, dedicating her time and spirit to supporting others. In her younger years, she was affectionately nicknamed the “road runner” by friends, a reflection of her boundless energy and eagerness to stay on the move. She never let the grass grow under her feet and was always ready to meet up, lend a hand, or share a laugh. Her vibrant spirit, love of life, and unwavering connection to those around her will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Alice is survived by her two sons, Wayne Martinez (Nancy) of Hubbard, OH and Rudy Martinez of New Iberia; grandchildren, Scott Martinez, Chip Martinez (Colette) and Alex Martinez, Rudy Martinez, and Allison Martinez; great grandchildren, Brooks Martinez, Tyler Martinez, Brett Martinez (Lexie); great great-grandchildren, Regan Martinez, Dax “Zach” Martinez, Lincoln Martinez, and Landry Martinez.

She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Martinez, Jr.; her parents, Otis J. and Ada Bourque Gary; siblings, Norris J. Gary, and Jeanelle Segura.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Chip Martinez, Brooks Martinez, Alex Martinez, Brett Martinez, Tyler Martinez, Marty Toups.

Honored to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Rudy Martinez, and Scott Martinez.
