Margot Bell deGravelle, 67, born October 24, 1939, died October 31, 2006, at Canon Hospice in New Orleans. Private graveside services were conducted November 1, 2006, at the Peterman family plot in the Franklin Cemetery. Margot was born and raised in Franklin, LA and was a resident of Jeanerette and New Iberia for many years. She is survived by her children, Margaret Lorraine deGravelle of Seattle, WA, Bell deGravelle ORoark, son-in-law Walter N. ORoark, III, granddaughter Margaret Kimball ORoark of Baton Rouge; son Oliver L. deGravelle, III, daughter-in-law Joni Santopadre deGravelle and grandchildren Elizabeth Lorraine deGravelle, Alexandra Margot deGravelle, and John Oliver deGravelle of Harahan; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles N. Bell, Jr. and Judy Shannon Bell of Monroe, LA, nephew Charles N. Bell, III of San Francisco, CA, niece Margot Marion Bell of Monroe; and former husband Oliver L. deGravelle, Jr. of New Iberia. She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Peterman Bell of Franklin, her father Charles N. Bell, Sr. of Cleveland, OH, and nephew, Thomas Peterman Bell of Monroe. Memorial donations may be made to Ursuline Academy Hurricane Katrina Recovery Fund, 2635 State Street, New Orleans 70118 or Make-A-Wish Foundation, 320 Metairie Hammond Highway, Suite 402, Metairie 70005. David Funeral Home of New Iberia was in charge of funeral arrangements.
