Abbeville " Funeral Services for Mrs. Willie Hawthorne, Sr., the former Edna Derouen, 85, will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Wright officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 7:30AM until time of services. Burial will take place in Pleasant Green Cemetery.
A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Abbeville, Edna passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:05AM. She was a deaconess at Pleasant Green Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, John E. Hawthorne of Abbeville; her daughter, Pauline Hawthorne and husband, Herbert L. Levy of Abbeville; her grandson, John C. Hawthorne and wife, Elaine of Abbeville; her granddaughter, Charlene Hawthorne of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her grandson, Kibbie P. Pillette, Jr. and wife, Chekeitha of Abbeville; her sister, Rose Derouen of Abbeville; her half brother, Charlie Valcin of Port Arthur, TX; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Hawthorne, Sr.; her parents, Edward and Dora Baudoin Derouen; her son, Willie Hawthorne, Jr.; and her sister, Mamie OBrien.
David Funeral Home of Abbeville, 2600 Charity Street, (337) 893-3777, will be handling the arrangements.
