Erath- A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 1 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath for Philip Cottan Floris, 65. The Rev. Paul Onuegbe from St. Joseph Church in Loreauville will conduct the funeral service with burial to follow at Primeaux Cemetery in Erath. The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from 5 PM until 10 PM and continue Wednesday, January 3, from 8 AM till time of service. A rosary will be prayed Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Philip was born in New Iberia, LA on August 7, 1941 and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia at 9:10 PM. He is survived by six brothers, Alwin Floris, Abdin BeBe Floris, Horace Dean Floris, all of Erath, Anthony Floris, Paul Floris, and Darrell Floris of New Iberia, LA; and three sisters, Mary Nell Babin and Vanet Floris of Erath, LA and Maxine DeRouen of New Iberia, LA. He is preceded in death by his father Antoine Floris, his mother, Mildred Mergist Floris, his nephews Woody Dean Floris, and Joshua Michael DeRouen, his maternal grand parents, Francis Mergist and Judith Broussard Mergist, and his paternal grand parents, Felix Floris and Laurance LeBouef Floris Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Floris, Alwin Floris, Darrell Floris, Abdin Floris, Horace Dean Floris, and Raymond Babin.
