New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence Michael Larry Gonsoulin, 55, of Houma will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in David Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Steve LeBlanc will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. until service time in David Funeral Home.
A native of New Iberia and lifelong resident of Houma, Mr. Gonsoulin passed away on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in his residence.
Mr. Gonsoulin was a 1969 graduate of Vanderbilt High School in Houma, and he attended Nichols State University in Thibodaux. He was a member of the Catholic faith, attending St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cathedral and St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Mr. Gonsoulin was an avid horseman who enjoyed trail rides and caring for his horse, Dusty. He loved animals, and enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities. Mr. Gonsoulin was an employee of SeaMar Corporation, where he worked as a boat engineer.
Survivors include his brothers, Al Gonsoulin and wife, Darla of SugarLand, TX and Gene J. Gonsoulin and wife, Frances of Oneanta, AL; nephews, Al Gonsoulin, III and wife, Dawn of San Diego, CA, Chad Gonsoulin and wife, Geni of Missouri City, TX, Wade Gonsoulin of Corpus Christi, TX, Bryan Gonsoulin of Houston, TX, and Matthew Gonsoulin of Oneanta, AL; niece, Allyson Huth and husband, Pete of Missouri City, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Al Gonsoulin, III, Chad Gonsoulin, Wade Gonsoulin, Bryan Gonsoulin, Alfred Fortier, and Byron Fortier.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Pennies for Bread, c/o Fr. Augustine Foley, OSB, St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
