Lydia " Funeral services will be conducted for Howard J. Freyou, Sr., 84, on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Donovan Labbe officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by V. F. W. Post 1982 of New Iberia. Visitation will begin on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:00 PM. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Freyou died on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 12:35 PM in a New Iberia hospital. He was a farmer and a retired bus driver for the Iberia Parish School System. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Maryland and was a member of the USS Maryland Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post 365 and V. F. W. Post 1982. He loved to travel and dancing. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Boutte Freyou of New Iberia; his sons, Howard Freyou, Jr. and his wife Virginia and Dean A. Freyou and his wife Jackie all of New Iberia; his daughters, Maryland F. Broussard and her husband Norbert of New Iberia and Donna F. Thibodeaux and her husband Ricky of Pineville; his sisters, Helen Gonsoulin and Hilda Blanchard both of New Iberia; his brother, Harold Freyou of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Becky Weatherly, Mindy Boudreaux, Brandy Newnam, Alysia Hawthorne and Derek Freyou and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Leodias Freyou; his mother, Eunice Babin Freyou; his sister, Hazel Louviere and a grandchild, Ryan Thibodeaux. Pallbearers will be Derek Freyou, Chris Hawthorne, Scott Boudreaux, Kerry Freyou, Marty Freyou, Lane Blanchard, Harvey Blanchard. Jr. and Brant Blanchard.
