Loreauville " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Adam J. Crochet the former Jeanette Jan Barras, Age 77, at 1:00PM Tuesday November 7, 2006 at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Father Mario Romero officiating. Visitation will begin Monday November 6, 2006 at 4:00PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00PM. The funeral home will close at 9:00PM and reopen Tuesday from 8:00AM till the time of service. Burial will be in St. Josephs Mausoleum.

Born on January 12, 1929, she was raised in Catahoula, Louisiana and moved to New Iberia in 1940. In 1948, she moved to Loreauville and has been a resident ever since. Mom Jan was a beautiful soul and gave her love to many as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her smile could light up a room. Mrs. Crochet died on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 1:45PM at her residence. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She was also a special caregiver for her parents and in-laws. She worked many years for Dr. J.R. Hebert in Loreauville and she managed Crochets Caf in Loreauville. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana, AAA Home Health, Lisa Pastor and Kendell Alexander.

Survivors include her husband, Adam J. Crochet of Loreauville; two sons, Bryan Crochet and wife Sue of New Orleans and Kirk Crochet and wife Janice of Loreauville; one brother Elton Barras of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Adam Mac Crochet of New Orleans, Luke Laurent Crochet of Philadelphia, Pa., Stacy Anne Crochet and Kelly Marie Crochet both of Lafayette and Christopher Paul Crochet of Loreauville; two nieces, Garneth Viltz of Lafayette and Gina Bergeron of Thibodaux and two nephews, Taylor and Terry Barras both of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Noamie Laviolette Barras.

Pallbearers will be Adam Crochet, Luke Crochet, Christopher Crochet, Taylor Barras, Terry Barras and Glen Viltz. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Barras, Alex Barras, Ross Viltz and Mark Bergeron.
