Loreauville"A Mass of Christian Burial for Louis ONeil Suard, 90, of Loreauville will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Mario Romero will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2007 from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mr. Suard passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 1:50 P.M. in his residence. A native of St. Martinville and longtime resident of Loreauville, Mr. Suard was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a sugarcane farmer for over 50 years. After retirement, Mr. Suard enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making, and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Verna Sook Bonin Suard of Loreauville; son, Neil Suard and wife, Kris of Houma; daughters, Janie S. Dugas and husband, L.J. of St. Martinville, and Wendy S. Breaux of New Iberia; grandson, Casey Dugas of Youngsville; granddaughters, Cherie Murphy and husband, Eric of Atlanta, GA, Catherine Davidson of New Orleans, Misty Boudreaux and husband, Ernie of Lockport, and Erica Guidry and husband, Elliot of Baton Rouge; great-grandson, August Vanlangendonck of New Orleans; great-granddaughters, Abigail Dugas of Youngsville, Sadie Boudreaux of Lockport, and Emma Dugas of Youngsville. Preceding Mr. Suard in death were his parents, Albert Victor and Helen Moulis Suard; brothers, Albert, Allen, and Chester Suard; and sisters, Florence S. Gonsoulin, Myrtle S. Girouard, and Lucille S. Robbins. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to AAA Hospice, 2111 Highway 14, New Iberia, LA 70560. David Funeral Home of Loreauville is in charge of arrangements.
