Coteau " Funeral services will be conducted for A. D. Joseph Neg Romero, 78, on Monday, April 9, 2007 at10:00 AMat Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Rev. Barry Crochetofficiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.
Visitation will be begin on Sunday, April 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed in the funeral home at 7:00 PM and will re-open on Monday, April 9, 2007 at 8:00 AM until services.
A native of Coteau and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero died on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 4:00 AM at his residence. Mr. Romero retired as a school bus driver for the Iberia Parish School Board after twenty years. He was owner/operator of Romeros Cash Grocery in New Iberia for twenty years. He was such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, horse races and raising his cattle.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Oceana Ann LeBlanc Romero; his sons, David Wayne Romero and Dickie Romero; daughter, Deanna Guilbeau and her husband Joel; his grandchildren, Chanda and Corey Romero, Brooke Derouen and her husband Drew, Dustin Romero and his wife Allison, Linzi Romero and her fiancee Jason, Morgan Romero and Ahnaya Courville. His step grandchildren, Scott Guilbeau and his wife Angie, Dana Guilbeau, Cory Guilbeau and his wife Lottie and Brody Chevalon. His great-grandchildren Eugenee, Graci and Sabyn Derouen, Abby and Ayden Romero and Jaselin Boutte, his step-great grandchildren, Logan, Emily, Mallory, Katti and Luke Guilbeau. His sisters Rita Menard and her husband Willis, Lucille Bourque and her husband Anatole, Shirley Viator and brother Olan Boy Romero and his wife Barbara.
He was preceded in death by his parents Armance and Alida Viator Romero; sister, Lillian Norris, brother Claude Romero and his step grandson Brett Castille and brother-in-law Alwyn Viator.
Pallbearers will be Corey Romero, Dustin Romero, Drew Derouen, Jason Boutte, Tommy Bourque and Alex Norris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Olan Boy Romero, Troy Norris, Daniel Romero, and John Viator.
The Romero family would like to thank AAA Hospice for all the help and support, especially, Linda, Rochelle, Tiny, Irene, Renee, Kathy and Jimmy Tate.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
