New Iberia- Funeral Services will be conducted for Donald Paul Sam Hebert, Age 84, at 11:00AM Tuesday May 8, 2007 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia with Father Donovan Labbe officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johns Mausoleum in Jeanerette. Visitation will begin Monday May 7, 2007 from 2:00PM till 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM and again Tuesday May 8, 2007 from 8:00AM till time of services. Members the VFW Post 1982 will conduct military graveside rites. He died Saturday May 5, 2007 at 1:10PM in the St. Martinville Nursing Home. A native of Jeanerette, former resident of Weeks Island and a resident of Lydia, Mr. Hebert was a painter for Morton Salt Co. for 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 365 for 60 years and was elected Post Commander twice. He was also a member of the VFW Post 1982 having been elected as Post Commander twice and District Commander three times. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the 11th Armored Division Thunderbolt. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Walker Hebert of Lydia, one sister; Lorence H. Lasseigne of New Iberia and a special friend of he and Mrs. Hebert, Haigan Bourque of Coteau. He was preceded in death by his parents; Aristival and Clara Hebert Hebert, bothers; Uval , Dell, Luke, Roy and Emar Hebert and sisters; May Peltier, Aline Fouquier, Irene Medver, Georgette Hebert and Lidie Larpenter. Pallbearers will be Wade Hebert, Myron Decuir, Daniel Hebert, Davey Landry, Brian Lasseigne and Wayne Mayeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Hardy Landry, Fred Doll, Jimmy Bender, Tommy Medver, Ernest Freyou and Rudy Migues. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
