Loving Mother and Grandmother New Iberia ~ Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Elton P. Trahan, Sr. the former Virgie Delcambre, Age 83 at 10:30 AM on Thursday May 17, 2007 at Our Lady Of The Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre with Rev.Kenny Mayne officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady Of the Lake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Wednesday May 16, 2007 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume Thursday May 17 from 8:00 AM until service time. A rosary will be prayed Wednesady May 16, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Mrs. Trahan died Monday May 14, 2007 at 3:50 PM in a New Iberia Hospital. Mrs. Trahan assisted her husband in their business, Trahan Electric as secretary for many years. She enjoyed cooking breakfast for family and friends after daily mass. She was a devout catholic. After her husband was called to serve his country during WW II she helped her father-in-law build their first home. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Mary Hicks and her husband Robert, Judith Judy Trahan, Elton P. Trahan, Jr. and his wife Johanna, Brenda Stansbury and her husband Kenneth, Theodore Ted Trahan and his wife Shirley, Joseph Trahan and his wife Jackie, Phillip Trahan and his wife Kim all of New Iberia and Frances Desonier and her husband Larry of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is also survived by a sister, Florence Delahoussaye of New Iberia, 23 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Trahan was preceded in death by her husband, Elton P. Trahan, Sr. her parents, Ray Delcambre and Mabelle Broussard Delcambre, a son, Thomas Paul Trahan, a sister Rosemary Delcambre and a grandson, Mitchell Paul Moncla. Pallbearers will be Phillip Trahan, Jr., Tyson Stansbury, Thomas Trahan, Zachary Hicks, Jake Hicks, and Bobby Trahan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nathan Trahan, Luke Trahan, David Trahan, and Matthew Trahan. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of funeral arrangements.
