Marie May Palumbo

New Iberia " Marie May Palumbo passed away on June 22, 2007. She had recently celebrated her 106th birthday. Mrs. Palumbo was born on June 1, 1901 in Broussard, LA to Duplessis Marcel and Alice Landry. She was the widow of Salvatore Sam Palumbo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, June 25, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at David Funeral Home in New Iberia on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Monday, June 25, 2007 at 8:00 AM until services. Deacon Wade Broussard will pray the rosary in the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM.

Mrs. Palumbo was involved in a number of volunteer activities. She was a past member of the St. Peters College Mothers Club, the St. Peters Altar Society and the Pink Ladies of Iberia Parish Hospital. During her lifetime, Mrs. Palumbo created and distributed thousands of hand crafted infant apparel featuring her trademark baby booties and bibs.

She is survived by two children, Elaine Palumbo Plaisance Ferry and V. Stephan Palumbo both of New Iberia; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one nephew.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Belle Landry Mestayer and Katherine Landry Bernard; and three brothers, Louis Leo Landry, Clifton Paul Landry and Willie Landry.

Pallbearers will consist of family members.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
