Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Rodney McGee, the former Inez Benoit, 78, will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, February 2, 2009 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Kenneth Mayne officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Sunday, February 1, 2009 beginning at 1:00PM until 10:00PM, with a recitation of the rosary pending for Sunday evening. Visitation will resume on Monday, February 2, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Mrs. McGee, a native of Welsh, and a resident of Abbeville, passed away at 8:49AM on Friday, January 30, 2009, at a local Abbeville Hospital. Mrs. McGee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney McGee of Abbeville; two sons, Victor McGee of Houston, Texas and Karl T. McGee of Meaux; a daughter, Jo Rhetta M. Weekly of Abbeville; three brothers, Harold Benoit of Lake Charles, Irving Benoit and Rene Butch Benoit of Crowley; and six sisters, Ethel Ardoin, Irma Fruge, and Faye Broussard of Welsh, Renella Benoit Green of Sulphur, Catherine Marcantel of Kinder, and Elaine Corbello of Lake Charles; along with four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester P. Benoit and Lena Bellard Benoit; and one sister, Linda Benoit Simmons.
David Funeral Home of Abbeville, 2600 Charity Street, (337) 893-3777, will be handling the arrangements.
