Lafayette " A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Yvette Blanche Bagur Rolufs, 90, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away at 6:00PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Cornerstone Infirmary in Lafayette. She was cremated. Burial will be at a future date at St. Pauls Cemetery in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Yvette was born on January 4, 1919, the fourth child of Pierre and Diana Jacquet Bagur in New Orleans, LA where she lived until retirement in 1981. In New Orleans, she graduated from Sophie B. Wright High School. On May 15, 1941, she married Frederick Herman Rolufs, Sr. at St. Louis Cathedral. She was a devoted, active member of St. Cecilia, St. Mary Goretti and Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Parishes in New Orleans, offering her home for catechism classes and weekly CYO square dances. She was an active member of Christian Family Movement, a Cub Scout Den Mother and leader in organizing large family gatherings through the years until her retirement in Pass Christian, MS. Before her marriage, she worked as an artist for Aunt Sallys Pralines Company on Decatur St. in New Orleans, founded by her parents. As an owner, she served as secretary on the Aunt Sallys Board of Directors. Survivors include her nine children including six daughters, Gretchen (Rob) Sutherland of Mt. Vernon, IA, Karen (Bill) Sisco of Oro Valley, AZ, Marlene Gieseler of Youngsville, LA, Stephanie (Randy) Forgey of Kittitas, WA, Lisa Rolufs of Alexandria, LA, and Tessa (Eric) Trelz of St. Louis, MO; three sons, Frederick Herman (Mary) Rolufs, Jr. of Hahnville, LA, Jan Rolufs of Lacombe, LA, and Eric Rolufs of Ponchatoula, LA; twenty-one grandchildren, Kirsten (Todd) Holmquist-Sutherland, Robert Warren (Jan) Sutherland III, Deborah Surgi, Jennifer Rolufs, Beth (Johnny) Fisher, Katie Rolufs, Ben Sisco, Nicole Sisco, Hans (Lisa) Gieseler, Leah (Noah Neal) Gieseler, Jeremy Forgey, Amanda Forgey, Peter (Makiko) Rolufs, Heidi (Sam) Pfister, Michael (Ran Chen) Rolufs, Matthew Rolufs, Erica (Callum) Chisolm, Yvette Rolufs, Frederick M. Trelz, Nicholas E. Trelz and Harrison E. Trelz; twelve great-grandchildren, Connor, Emily, Max and Dylan Sutherland, Noel Rolufs, Alaska Gieseler, Sophie Rolufs, Eric Holmquist-Sutherland, Julia Fisher, Vanessa Leigh Rolufs, Penelope Pfister and Alexander Gieseler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Frederick Herman Rolufs, Sr.; her parents, Pierre E. Bagur, Sr. and Diana Jacquet Bagur; her brothers, Pierre, Jr. and Jacques A.; her sister, Diane Bagur McDonald; a grandson, Marc Surgi; and son-in-law, Robert Gieseler. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Holy Family Parish, 22342 Evangeline Rd., Pass Christian, MS 39571.
