Abbeville - Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Tuesday,July 10,2007 at St.Theresa Catholic Church with Father Bill Gearheard officiating for Ella Simon Broussard, 76, who died at 6:00 PM on July 7th at her residence on Putnam Street in Abbeville. She was a 19 year cancer survivor having fought a strong and courageous battle to the very end. She was a very strong lady, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Visitation was held on Monday, July 9, 2007 from 10:00AM until 10:00PM, with a rosary being prayed at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday,July 10,2007 from 8AM until time of service. Internment will follow at Cow Island Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be her four sons, Ronald, Teddy, Dean, and Bobby Broussard, her son-n-law, Terry Bourque and grandson Timothy Bourque. Survivors include her five children: four sons; Ronald from Marrero, Teddy from Erath, Dean from Pecan Island, and Bobby from Abbeville, and one daughter Patsy Bourque, also from Abbeville. She has three sisters; Doris Hobbs, Dorothy Rosvold, and Jean Kelly and three brothers; Lawrence, Dudley and Wilbert Simon all of whom live in east Texas. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis C. Black Broussard, one grandson "Lil" Dean, her parents, Phelosie Simon and Cecile Granger Simon, and one brother Harold John Simon. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
