Special Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother

New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lester J. Delahoussaye, Sr., the former Vivian Granny Norris, 59, will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Reverend Primor Salvino (Fr. Ruben) will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., and will continue until service time on Wednesday in David Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. in the funeral home.

A native of Abbeville and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Delahoussaye, who was lovingly known to all as Granny , passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 3:40 P.M. in her residence.

Mrs. Delahoussaye was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She worked for 21 years in the cafeteria at Hopkins Street Elementary School, where she loved her job and loved the people she worked with. Mrs. Delahoussaye enjoyed dancing to zydeco music, and she looked forward to weekend barbeques and crawfish boils with her family. She loved her pets, especially her dog, Little Bit, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Continue my heritage. Im counting on you. Keep smiling through. My mind is at ease; my soul is at rest, Remembering how I was truly blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life Dont just stare at the wall. I miss you all dearly So keep up your chin Until the day comes were Together again.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra A. Louviere and husband, Harold, Jr. of Loreauville and Angela Delahoussaye of New Iberia; son, Lester J. Delahoussaye, Jr. and companion, Sarah Ellis of New Iberia; mother, Lilly Mae Touchet of Delcambre; brother, Stanley Norris and wife, Gene of New Iberia; step-brothers, Troy Touchet and wife, Denise of Abbeville and Rodney Norris of Churchpoint; step-sisters, Venessa Touchet of Abbeville, Susan Ballard of Louisiana, and Antoinette Norris of Louisiana; grandchildren, Brandon T. Delahoussaye of New Iberia, Todd Michael Romero, Jr. of New Iberia, Cody Joseph Romero of New Iberia, Natalie Nicole Louviere of Loreauville, Destin Rooster Delahoussaye of Breaux Bridge, Jude Joseph Nu-Nu Delahoussaye of New Iberia, and Nicholas Jude Louviere of Loreauville; step-grandchildren, Britnie and Christie Morvant of New Iberia and Shawn and Halen Dugan of New Iberia; great-grandchild, Briasia A. Delahoussaye of New Iberia; step-great-grandchild, Kam Rin Morvant of New Iberia; Godchildren, Troy Smith of Youngsville and Jessie J. Smith, Jr. of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Gussie Smith and husband, Jessie, Sr. of New Iberia; and special friends, Trenda Babineaux, Patsy Delahoussaye, Joyce Joseph, Barbara, and all her other co-workers at Hopkins Street Elementary School cafeteria.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lester Joseph Delahoussaye, Sr., father, Antoine Norris; step-father, Dalton Touchet; mother-in-law, Lydia M. Delahoussaye; father-in-law, Theodore G. Kellogg Delahoussaye; and step-brother, Mark Broussard.

Serving as pallbearers are Todd M. Romero, Jr., Cody J. Romero, Harold J. Louviere, Jr., Troy J. Smith, Jessie James Smith, Jr., and Lester J. Delahoussaye, Jr. Named as honorary pallbearer is Brandon Theodore Delahoussaye.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Journey Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
