Mabel Delahoussaye Smith

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother. New Iberia "Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Harold V. Smith, the former Mabel Mab Delahoussaye 87, at 1:30 PM Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, with Fr. Mike Arnaud officiating. Entombment will follow in Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum. Visiting hours will begin on Friday Jan. 25, 2008 at 8:30 AM until service time at David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 11:00 AM. Mrs. Smith died Wednesday Jan. 23, 2008 at 6:30 AM in a New Iberia hospital. A native of St. Martinville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Smith was member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Mab loved spending time with her children, grandchildren,& great grandchildren, and she enjoyed talking on the phone with her sisters. She is survived by daughters, Sandra S. Upton of New Iberia, Marie S. Olson and husband, Jim of Houston, TX, and Shelia S. Landry and husband, Jerry of New Iberia; sons, Raymond L. Smith and wife, Carol of St. Martinville, William T. Bill Smith of New Iberia, and Chad M. Smith and wife, Karen of Hot Springs, AR; sisters, Mona D. Menard of Abbeville, Josephine D. Livingston of Lafayette, Maudry D. Blanchard of New Iberia, and Marion D. Angelle and husband, Alphonse of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, David Ray Smith, Brent L. Smith, Angela S. Theriot, Stephanie N. Landry, Beau J. Landry, Courtney Smith, and Kori Smith; and great grandchildren, Victoria R. Theriot, Alayna R. Theriot, and Makayla A. Theriot. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold V. Smith; her parents, Rene and Elizabeth Dwyer Delahoussaye; sons-in-law, Willie J. Upton and William Bill Odea; sister, Hazel D. Tullier; and brothers, Allen and Ernest Delahoussaye. Serving as pallbearers are David R. Smith, Brent L. Smith, Beau J. Landry, Chad M. Smith, Jerry F. Landry, and James A. Theriot. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Smith, Raymond Smith, and Jim Olson. The family would like to thank the staff at Consolata Nursing Home for the care and kindness they gave their mother for the past three years. David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St., 337 369-6336, is in charge of arrangements.
