ERATH " A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Edwin Reaux, the former Agnes Romero, 91, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17,2007 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre with the Reverend Wayne Duet officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Erath.
A native of Port Arthur, Texas and a resident of Erath, Mrs. Reaux died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Abbeville General Hospital. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2007 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will remain open until the time of the services.
Mrs. Reaux was a strong woman, deeply committed to her Catholic faith. She lived her life according to the will of her God. She was a strong believer in the family unit and especially loved large, family gatherings. She prayed the rosary daily and looked forward to the celebration of the Eucharist at Holy Mass on weekends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her occupation was, first and foremost, being a fulltime mother to her five children; a grandmother to her 21 grandchildren; a great-grandmother to her 35 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandmother to her 2 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Frederick and husband Dave of Abbeville; two sons, Stanley Reaux and wife Donna of Erath; Ebrar Reaux and wife Jean of New Iberia; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Reaux of Erath, 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Each will cherish beautiful memories of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Romero, Sr. and Agenoria Romero of Youngsville; her devoted husband, Edwin Reaux of Erath; her oldest daughter, Rita Reaux LaBiche of Lafayette and her youngest son, Carroll Reaux of Erath; grandchildren Cory, Belinda, and Janet Kim Reaux of Erath; and her great-grandson, Ryan Granger of Maurice; two half-brothers, Sidney Romero of New Iberia and Clemille Romero of Youngsville; two half-sisters, Enite and Aline Romero of Youngsville; four brothers, Annis Romero and Minos Romero of Youngsville; Pierre Romero of Carencro; Ernest Romero, Jr.of Coteau; and one sister, Alta Romero Trahan Suire of Port Arthur, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Joey LaBiche of Lafayette, Dale Reaux and Shane Reaux of Erath, Todd Frederick of Henry, Paul A. Reaux of New Iberia, Timmy Reaux of Erath, and Sandra Latiolais of Lafayette. Honorary pallbearers will be Angela Romero of Erath and her remaining grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Ronald Lahasky of Abbeville, the nurses and staff at Abbeville General Hospital and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care of Mrs. Reaux during her illness.
