Having freely accepted Gods gift of salvation, Julius W. Grubbs, Sr., 90, finished the good fight and claimed the prize of eternal life with Jesus Christ on July 30th at Iberia Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Highland Baptist Church on Saturday, August 2nd at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home beginning Friday, August 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and continuing from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Service. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native of Simpson County, Mississippi, Jake left the family farm for an adventurous life, which included working in the Vicksburg CCC Camp and serving his country during World War II in the US Army. After earning degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and Cumberland University School of Law, he practiced law in Mendenhall and Hattiesburg, MS before going to work for United Gas Pipeline for the next thirty years in Houma, LA. Julius and Mary moved to New Iberia in 1990. He was a past state president of the Louisiana Right of Way Association and an active member of The Gideons International.
Julius has been reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Virginia Bennett and his son, Jonathan Paul Grubbs, Sr.. Left to mourn his passing is his son, Julius W. Will Grubbs, Jr. and wife, Patricia Moresi Grubbs and six grandchildren, Brent Grubbs, Matthew Landry, Paul Grubbs, Mary Jenny Grubbs, Alexandra Grubbs and Samantha Grubbs, as well as countless numbers of friends and family. Only heaven knows the lives touched and fruit borne by this passionate believer in Christ Jesus.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Matthew Landry, Paul Grubbs, Raymond Boutte, Julius Bourque, Chris Caughman and Andy Hatten.
