NEW IBERIA ~ Services for Mrs. Joseph Domenic Metzner, the former Bettie J. Pontiff, 64, will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Fabre officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery in Jeanerette. Visiting hours will be observed Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at David Funeral Home. A native of Morgan City and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Metzner died at 9:40 PM Sunday, August 17, 2008, at her residence surrounded by her family. Bettie enjoyed traveling, doing line dancing and visiting antebellum homes. She is survived by her children, Rochelle Denise Gordon of Warminster, PA, and Joseph Dominic Metzner, III and wife Gail of Springfield, PA; brother, Steven Wayne Pontiff of New Iberia; sisters, Lisa Pontiff Carline of New Iberia, and Linda Pontiff Landry of Centerville; grandchildren, Deanna Louise Gordon, Ryan Joseph Gordon, both of Warminster, PA, and Dominick Joseph Metzner of Springfield, PA; nieces, Kristen Landry Boje, Beth Anne Landry, both of Houma, and Jenna Elizabeth Carline of New Iberia; nephew, Grant Robert Carline of New Iberia; and dear cousin, Barbara Brock of Lafayette. Mrs. Metzner was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Domenic Metzner, Jr.; and parents, Herman and Helen Dwyer Pontiff. Pallbearers will be Joseph Dominic Metzner, III, Mark David Brock, Al Landry, Kenneth R., Carline, Jarrod Derouen and Steven Wayne Pontiff. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for the great care given to her by her nurse, Iggy.
