Bessie Doucet Bourque

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M.at David Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mrs. Bourque passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 7:00 A.M. in her New Iberia residence.

A native of Church Point, Mrs. Bourque was a New Iberia area resident for many years. She was a member of St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Affectionately known as Grandma to all who knew her, Mrs. Bourque was a truly wonderful lady who would assist anyone who needed help. She opened her home to many foster children, who she raised as her own. Mrs. Bourque enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading the daily newspaper and romance novels, but her greatest joy in life was caring for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Remaining to mourn her loss are her son, Bobby Bourque, Sr. and wife, Abby of New Iberia; foster children, Thomas Black Bourque of New Iberia, Laura Webb of New Iberia, Stephanie Delahoussaye of New Iberia, Charlotte Lajaunie of Loreauville, Kirt Lajaunie of Liverpool, TX, and Richard Vincent, Jr. of New Iberia; grandchildren, Kirstin Romero of New Iberia, Bobby Bourque, Jr. of New Iberia, Edward Bourque of New Iberia, Dane Romero of New Iberia, Tabi Romero of New Iberia, Sadie Bourque of Lydia, and Brettney Atkins of New Iberia; great-grandchildren, Alana Darby and Brooklyn Romero of New Iberia; foster grandchildren, Jacob Bourque, Justin Vincent, Latashia Vincent, Tommy Crochet, Jr., Laci Crochet, Christy Snyder, Cody Snyder, Brittany Boudreaux, Richard Vincent, III, Nola Vincent, and Aron Vincent, all of New Iberia; and sister, Mary Leger and husband, Rodney of Church Point.

Preceding Mrs. Bourque in death were her husband, Edward Bourque; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doucet, Sr.; and brother, Henry Doucet, Jr.

Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Bourque, Sr., Thomas Bourque, Bobby Bourque, Jr., Edward Bourque, Richard Vincent, Jr., Dane Romero, Drew Reaux, and Justin Vincent.
