New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. John Barry Desormeaux, the former Kathy Theresa Broussard, 52, will be celebrated on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Peter Catholic Church. The Reverend Charles Langlais will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery, Jeanerette. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Kathy was called home on Monday, January 26, 2009 from a Houston, TX hospital. She fought the good fight, she finished her course, and now there for her is the crown of righteousness, which her Lord Jesus Christ will give to her. A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, Kathy was truly a beautiful example of faith and hope. She touched the lives of those who she dearly loved. A remarkable woman with so much love to give, Kathy was always willing to give a helping hand. She leaves her family and friends with a lifetime of love and many memories to cherish. Kathy was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and she was a member of the Pogo Club. A loving wife, mother, and daughter, Kathy is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Barry Desormeaux, Sr.; son, John B. Desormeaux, Jr. of New Iberia; daughters, Jami Desormeaux, Brandi Desormeaux Henry and husband, Steven, and Kelly Desormeaux, all of New Iberia; father, Harold Broussard of Loreauville; sister, Deborah"Debbie" Broussard of New Iberia; brother, Tony Broussard and wife, Aggie of Loreauville; second mother, Gercie Facheaux of St. Martinville; mother-in-law, Ruth V. Desormeaux of New Iberia; grandchildren, Devin Paul Trahan and Lani Marie Latiolais, both of New Iberia; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding Kathy in death were her mother, Pearly Prioux; brother, Harold Broussard, Jr.; and father-in-law, Jim Desormeaux. Serving as pallbearers are John Desormeaux, Steven Henry, Devin Paul Trahan, Tony Broussard, Ronnie Desormeaux, Tommy Desormeaux, and Michael Desormeaux. Named as honorary pallbearers are Nicholas Broussard, Mitchell Lopez, James Jimbo Palmer, and Kevin Corley. David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
