A native of Youngsville who lived in Butte LaRose, Isabelle entered into Eternal Rest at 1:25PM on Thursday, January 29, 2009. Her loving daughter was her caregiver for the past ten years. Through all the love, natural homeopathic care and a zest for life, God was not ready for her until now. She had a kind heart, gentle spirit, sweet smile and never ending love for her family. She was a loving, caring, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who was loved by all she met, even strangers. Isabelle was a school teacher, having taught first through sixth grade for 33 years for the Lafayette Parish School Board. She taught all three of her children, her son-in-law, her nieces and nephews, as well as thousands of others who often told her that she was their favorite teacher. She was a member of Mardi Gras Krewe Krewe des Amis of Youngsville. She was the wife of now deceased, Glenn Baker of Canton, New York and besides teaching, she also helped with their dairy farm and nursery. Isabelle or Liza , as she was known by her many friends, loved her camp in Butte LaRose. She was always very active in fishing, cooking her Famous Spaghetti " requested by all her children and grandchildren - and her gingerbread cake. She would attend Downtown Alive and Rhythms on the River in Lafayette with her daughter. She always loved to dance, sing and play Bouree. Her favorite time of year was always Christmas. She especially loved all the lights and decorations. She loved traveling, which she did a lot of with her family. She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which she loved very much.
