Loving Father and Grandfather Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Roy A. Uncle Roy Eskind, Age 76, at 11:30AM Monday February 22, 2010 at David Funeral Home in Jeanerette with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Mausoleum. Visitation will be Sunday February 21, 2010 from 3:00PM until 10:00PM with a Rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00AM until service time. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army. A native of Louisa and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Eskind died Thursday February 18, 2010 at 5:17AM in a local hospital. He retired from Shell Oil Company as a surveyor after 31 years of service. Mr. Eskind was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors and being with his family. Survivors include his children, Darlene E. Brasseaux and fiance Charles Stages, Brenda E. Jumonville and husband Raymond Rum and Roy Anthony Eskind and fiance Karen Johnson all of Jeanerette; three brothers, Leroy Eskind of New Iberia, Alfred and Michael Eskind both of Houma; four sisters, Betty E. Cox of Bayou Black, Bernice E. Bonin of Jeanerette, Ruby E. Cantrelle and Daisy Eskind both of Houma; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena LeBlanc Eskind; parents, Arthur and Hazel Bonin Eskind; three brothers, Arthur, Charles and Roland Eskind; two sisters, Mary E. Leonard and Irene E. Belanger and his step mother, Rita Comeaux Eskind. Pallbearers will be Roy A. and Jeffery Eskind, Chris Brasseaux, Jr., Eric, Scot and Andrew Brasseaux, Raymond Jumonville, Jr. and Todd Jumonville. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Bonin, Boddy Bonin Sr., Bobby Bonin Jr., Raymond Picard, Jr., Kent Picard, Leroy, Alfred and Michael Eskind and Chris Brasseaux, Sr. David Funeral Home, 400 Provost St. Jeanerette, La.
