New Iberia " Memorial services for Michael John Mike Planchard, age 62, will be held on Friday May 8, 2009 at 3:00 PM at David Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Scott Bullock will officiate. Visitation with military honors by VFW Post # 1982 will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 from 1:00 PM until service.

Mr. Planchard was a native and resident of New Iberia; he passed away Tuesday May 5, 2009 at 1:35 PM at his residence in New Iberia. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid golfer. Mr. Planchard was a coach for 22 years in Iberia, Vermilion, East Baton Rouge and St. Mary Parishes. He graduated from New Iberia Senior High in 1964, USL in 1974 and served in the US Air Force from l965 to 1969.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years Virginia Huckaby Planchard, Son: James H. Planchard and his wife Jamie Hebert Planchard, Grandson: Durin Cain Planchard, Sisters: Mary Planchard LeBlanc and husband Joe, Nancy Planchard Seiley and husband Larry, Mother-in-Law: Beverly Huckaby, Nephew: Brandon Seiley, Nieces:Christin OubreSundberg, Mariah SeileyNorris andAlishiah Seiley, all of New Iberia, LA.

Preceding Mr. Planchard in death were his son: Mickey Planchard, Parents: Michael Jules and Elizabeth Foreman Planchard, Father-in-law: Vernon Huckaby, Nephew: Corey Seiley.
