Loving Father and Grandfather New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Howard Paul Romero, Sr., Age 86, at 10:00AM Tuesday March 24, 2009 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Richard Fabre officiating. Interment will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday March 23, 2009 from 2:00PM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM and again Tuesday from 8:00AM until time of service. The family would like to thank the staff of Iberia Medical Center, especially Jade Ransonet for their loving care and a very special thank you to his granddaughter and caregiver, Chantel Broussard. A native and longtime resident of New Iberia Mr. Romero also lived many years in Coteau. He died Saturday March 21, 2009 at 6:00AM at Iberia Medical Center. Mr. Romero worked for the Highway Department and retired from the Iberia Parish School Board where he worked as a custodian. He was affectionately known at school as Pop . He loved gardening. Survivors include his children, Howard Sonny Romero, Jr and wife Loretta and Cyril James Romero and his wife Elizabeth all of Coteau; David J. Romero and wife Cora and Linda R. Broussard all of New Iberia and Ernest C. Romero and wife Theresa of Lydia; one brother, Dorsey Romero of Coteau; one sister, Bernadette Sue Henry of Westlake; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and his loving pet, Princess B.B. . He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Aimee Sieber Romero and his parents Elizey and Viola Melancon Romero. Pallbearers will be Hunter, Jake and Justin Romero, Ryan and John Guillot, Billy Bass , Daniel Dugas and Jason Jenkins. David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St, New Iberia, La.
