New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Alvin J. LeBlanc Sr., Age 89, at 10:30AM Saturday May 1, 2010 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Mike Arnaud officiating. Interment will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Saturday from 8:00AM until service time. Mr. Leblanc died Wednesday April 28, 2010 at 3:35PM in a local health care facility. A native of Iberia Parish and longtime resident of Loreauville, Mr. LeBlanc worked for Dauterive Furniture Co. as store manager for 35 years and retired in 1985. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. PFC LeBlanc was a member of the 997th Field Artillery Battalion serving in the defenses of Cassino, Anzio, Rome and various German strongholds from the Riviera to the Rhine including the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors include four sons, Jude Wayne LeBlanc and wife Jeorgine of Loreauville, Alvin J. LeBlanc Jr. and wife Brenda of Erath, Johnny LeBlanc and wife Kara Lee of Austin, Texas and Tommy LeBlanc and wife Paula of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; one daughter, Paulette Accardo of St. Amant; one brother, E.J. LeBlanc of New Iberia; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lily Mae Judice Leblanc; parents, Norbert and Marie Romero LeBlanc; one brother, Jules LeBlanc and four sisters, Anna Mae Landry, Georgie Delcambre, Bertha Dugas and Ethel Meaux. Pallbearers will be Alvin LeBlanc Jr., Alvin LeBlanc III, Jude Wayne LeBlanc Jr., Johnny LeBlanc, Tommy LeBlanc and Steven Froisy. David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St. New Iberia, La.
