Wilmer "Joe" Menard

Lafayette - Wilmer Joseph Joe T-Boy Menard, 62, a resident of Lafayette died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:10 PM at his residence surrounded by family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 3, 1947 in Abbeville, LA, the son of the late Minos Mulate and Lula Mae Lange Menard. In the mid 60s he proudly served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic serving his time in Germany. Joe was employed in the oilfield since 1969, ultimately as a rig superintendent for Nabors Offshore for the last 17 years. Joe touched the lives of many. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was generous with his time and his heart. He was a hero to the grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as Pappy . He loved spending time restoring his three antique cars. He was an avid NASCAR fan, having traveled to attend many races with his two sons over the years. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Judy Clark Menard; two sons, Jared Menard of Erath, Louisiana, and Nicholas Menard of Tampa, Florida; three stepchildren, Famon Todd Bonin of Youngsville, LA, Jada Suire of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Dodi Robicheaux and her husband, Eric, of Broussard, Louisiana; four cherished and beloved grandchildren, Russ and Olivia Robicheaux, Baileigh Lalonde, and Ivy Lynn Bonin; and one brother, Russell Menard of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minos Mulate and Lula Mae Menard and one brother, Whitney Menard. Pallbearers will be Jared Menard, Eric Robicheaux, Troy Mouton, Paul Green, James Jimbo Royal and Danny Pippin. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Menard, Timmy Romero, and Russ Robicheaux. The family asks that visitation be observed from 9:00 AM to 9:00PM, Monday March 8, 2010, and Tuesday, from 8:00 AM until the time of services, 11:00 AM. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Monday, March 8, 2010. Arrangements have been entrusted to Davids Funeral Home in Erath, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in his name to Hospice of Acadiana.
