Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Karen Marie Derouen Johnson, age 38, at 10:00 AM Thursday October 7, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday October 6, 2010 from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:00AM until service time. Born in Lafayette, Karen was a resident of Jeanerette for many years. She died Sunday October 3, 2010 at 6:40PM at her residence. Karen loved fishing, gardening, going to the casino. She also enjoyed caring for her family and her pets. Survivors include her daughter, Danielle Johnson of Lafayette; fiance, Roy Eskind of Jeanerette; stepson, Jeffery Eskind and step daughter, Shelby Eskind both of Jeanerette; parents, St. Paul Derouen, Marjorie Landry Derouen of Jeanerette, Jane LeBlanc Breaux of Lafayette and Paula Saltzman of Lafayette; brothers, Jason Derouen and wife Patricia of New Iberia and Shane LeBlanc and wife Nancy of Lafayette; a sister Jolene Saltzman of Lafayette; nephews, Dustin and Chance Derouen of New Iberia, Tre and Kris LeBlanc, Justin, Jodi and Josh all of Lafayette; sisters in law, Brenda Jumonville and Darlene Brasseaux both of Jeanerette and her pets, Beau and Sam. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Saltzman. Pallbearers will be Roy Eskind, Jason, Chance and Dustin Derouen, Shane LeBlanc and Chris Brasseaux.
