Abbeville " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Eddie Derouen, Sr., the former Eula Mae Menard, 80, on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 1:00 PM at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Joshua Guillory officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 6:30 PM. A native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Derouen died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 11:40 PM in an Abbeville nursing facility. A grandmother to all, Mrs. Derouen loved children and operated a nursery for children in her home for many years. She was affectionately known as MeMe . She was survived by her son, Eddie Derouen, Jr. and his wife Dewanna of Lafayette; her daughter, Diana Sarver of Baton Rouge; her grandchildren, Susan Gremillion and her husband Brian of Baton Rouge, Kern Derouen and his wife Melissa and Jason Derouen both of Denver, CO and Troy Sarver and his wife Teri of Houston, TX; her great grandchildren, Ashley and Lauren Gremillion both of Baton Rouge, Tyler and Carly Sarver both of Houston, TX, Amber Lynn Derouen and David Kern Derouen, Jr. both of Denver, CO and Autumn Derouen of Abbeville; her sister, Birdie Pratt of Abbeville and her brother, Norris Menard of Tampa, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Derouen, Sr.;her son-in-law, Billy Sarver; her parents, Raymond and Ozia Luquette Menard; her sisters, Annie Mae Butaud and Hazel Doyle and her brothers, Marion, Maxie, Eves and Talton Menard; her niece, Tammy Menard and her nephews, Van James Pratt and Raymond Harrington. Pallbearers will be family members. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Manor Nursing Home for the care given to Mr. & Mrs. Derouen, Acadian Ambulance and the Emergency Room Staff at Abbeville General Hospital.
