Roland Peter Broussard

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Roland P. Broussard, age 82, Monday, August 16, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Loreauville with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Jody Bollick, organist and soloist, will sing The Impossible Dream, Ave Maria and Amazing Grace for the services. Interment will follow in St. Josephs Mausoleum. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of New Iberia, beginning Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 11:00AM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 3:00PM. Visitation will resume Monday, August 16, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of service.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Broussard passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 at 5:50AM in a local health care facility. Mr. Broussard retired after serving 32 years with the Iberia Parish School Board as a School Bus Driver, a position that provided many memories that he cherished. Mr. Broussard was a member of Cajun Refuge; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, spending time with his family and loved to sing.

Mr. Broussard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Pee Wee LeBlanc Broussard of New Iberia; his daughter, Susan B. Defelice and husband David Lynn, of New Iberia; his grandsons, Matthew Scott Menard and wife Aja Welch Menard, MD , of Shreveport; Lucas Michael Menard, of New Iberia; his great-grandchildren, Blythe Bull of New Iberia; Benjamin Menard of Shreveport; and soon to be, Edith Menard; his step-grandchildren, Claire Defelice, Michael Defelice and wife April, his step-great-granchildren, Thomas, Ethan and Whitney Defelice, all of New Iberia.

Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his parents, Neuville Broussard and Amelie Molbert Broussard, his brothers, Harry Broussard, Julius Broussard and Joseph Broussard, his sisters, Yvonne Gagnard, Frances Duplantis, Rose Broussard, Rita Chataignier, Cecile Landry and Carrie Greig.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Greig, Mark Gagnard, Travis Savoy, Matt Menard, Lucas Menard and Kerry Broussard.
