John Olivier

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. John L. Olivier, age 71, Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:00AM at David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of a Rosary at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Monday, September 27, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of service.

A native of Church Point and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Olivier passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:10PM at his residence. Mr. Olivier was a graduate of Chataignier High School Class of 1957 and a graduate of Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technique, St. Louis, Missouri Class of 1959. He was a Laboratory X-Ray Technician in Franklin and New Iberia for some years; he then opened Franklin Equipment selling farm equipment. He moved his business, and changed the name to Cane Tractor Parts. Mr. Olivier retired in 2004 at the age of 65. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, traveling and Cajun dancing.

Mr. Olivier is survived by his son, Thomas Olivier of Denver, CO; his daughters, Jackie Scott and husband Jerry of Charenton; and Suzy Olivier of Sorrel; brother, Kenneth Olivier of New Iberia; sister, Donna Olivier Guidry of Church Point; grandchildren, Jennifer Housley of Savannah, GA; Jeremy Housley of Charenton; and Jessica Housley of Frisco, TX; and a great-grandchild, Giselle Ramos of Savannah, GA.

Mr. Olivier was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Olivier and Aurelia Lejeune Olivier, and a brother, Clinton Olivier.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Housley, Jerry Scott, Kenneth Olivier, Janos Carter, Tommy Olivier and Kermit Lejeune.
