Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Audrest Chomp J. Champagne, 73, will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Monsignor J. Douglas Courville officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 8:00AM until service time. Entombment will follow the service in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. A native of Abbeville and resident of Erath, Chomp passed away at 12:50AM on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He worked at Shoots, where he would go early in the morning to clean up and make coffee for the guys, took care of his mother, Lillian, and enjoyed his long walks every day. His pride and joy was his 69 Mustang Mach 1. He is survived by his mother, Lillian Broussard Champagne of Erath; two sisters, Leona Broussard of Youngsville and Lola Romero and husband Andrew of New Iberia; brother, Francis Nick Champagne and wife Brenda of Coteau; nieces, Cindy Broussard, Darlene Abshire and Denise Cambre; niece and godchild, Debra Armentor; nephew and godchild, Toby Broussard; nephews, Heath Champagne and Jason Champagne; and ten great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Augusta Champagne; paternal grandparents, Francois Champagne and Lawrence Menard Ortemond; maternal grandparents, Isaac Broussard and Avia Landry Broussard; step-grandfather, Villiere Ortemond; his nephew, Andrew Andy Romero, Jr.; great-niece, Sydni Ann Cambre; and godchild, Johnny Suire. Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Broussard, Heath Champagne, Jason Champagne, Lorne Abshire, Charles Cambre and Duane Armentor. Honorary pallbearers will be his ten great-nieces and great-nephews.
