Lydia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Paulin Gibby Luent, age 88, Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Monsigner Jace Eskind and Co-Celebrant Donavon Labbe officiating. Assisting in placing the pall will be his daughters, Jackie, Gayle and Darlene, his grand-daughter Nicole Sonnier and great-grand daughter Gabby Derise. Readers will be Sharon Luent Seidel and Maggie Luent, serving as gift bearers will be Eve Landry, Jamie Broussard Derise, Emy Luent Moss, Chloe Fielding, Mya Landry and Koi Waguespak. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the United States Coast Guard in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with a scripture reading service by Brother Bobby Hodnett at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Friday, October 22, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of service.
A native of Abbeville and resident of Lydia, Mr. Luent died Wednesday, October 19, 2010 at 10:05AM at his residence. As a young man, Mr. Luent was a part of the Civilian Conservation Corps and served in the United States Coast Guard from August 31, 1942 until March 2, 1946. He was employed with Morton Salt Company for over 40 years and retired as the Carpenter Foreman. Mr. Luent was a member of the American Legion Post 26 of Jeanerette from 1961 until he became a Charter Member of American Legion Post 365 of Lydia and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1982.
Mr. Luent is survived by his sons,
Charles Charlie Luent and his wife Peggy Dupre Luent; Timothy Tim Luent and his wife Beverly Fisher Luent, his daughters, Jacquelyn Jackie Luent Landry and her husband Ronald Landry, Gayle Luent Broussard and her husband Lynn Broussard and Darlene Luent Eskind and her husband James Jimmy Eskind; and his daughter-in-law, Christy A.
Luent, all of Lydia. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Mr. Luent was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Frances Thibodeaux Luent, his parents, Louis A. Luent and Ada Fredrick Luent, his son Dane Paul Luent, and two grandsons, Ty and Tommy Luent, sisters, Paula Luent Boudreaux and Marie Luent Prince, two infant sisters and an infant brother.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Charlie Luent, Timothy Tim Luent, Ronald Landry, Lynn Broussard, Jimmy Eskind and Matt Landry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryant Landry, Brady Broussard, Trinity Luent, Tri Luent, Tyler Landry, Kyle Landry, Max Derise, his daughters, his daughter-in-law, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to his sitter Sheila Romero , his hospice nurse Joseph Summers and the entire AAA Hospice staff for the love and compassionate care given to Mr. Luent.
