Youngsville " Funeral Services for Mr. John Cormier, 89, will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at David Funeral Home Chapel of Lafayette with Deacon Cody Miler officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 10:00AM until 10:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Fountain Memorial Garden Cemetery. A native of Carencro and a resident of Youngsville, Mr. Cormier died at 3:30PM on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at his residence. He worked at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse; and enjoyed gardening. He was known as a hard worker. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Suire Cormier of Youngsville; three sons, Wilmer J. Cormier and his wife Margaret of Youngsville, John Ronnie Cormier and his wife Joetta of Albuquerque, NM, and Jessie Cormier and his wife Kim of Milton; three daughters, Maudry C. Granger of Arlington, TX, Sandra C. Granger and her husband Donald of Milton, and Susan C. Sellers and her husband Joseph of Milton; his twin sister, Celeste Savoie of Lafayette; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Zazin. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elie and Anna Conley Cormier; a son-in-law, James Granger; a brother, Julien Cormier; and two sisters, Lucille Desormeaux and Octovie Hernandez. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Cormier, Jason Granger, Joseph Cormier, Joshua Sellers, John Wesley Granger, and Scott Easterling. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andre Sellers, Henry Soileau, Tyler Schexnayder, Braxston Schexnayder, and Shayne Easterling.
