Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph Floyd Pop Floyd Luquette, 83, will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Paul Broussard officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Thursday, December 16. 2010 from 10:00AM until 10:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 8:00AM until the time of service with a recitation of the Rosary at 8:30AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Luquette a native of Abbeville and a resident of Erath passed away at 4:15AM on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Pop Floyd or to us who knew him, just plain Pop , there was not a day that did not go by that he had no visitors; whether, it was someone who just wanted to visit or a friend seeking advice, Pop would never turn anyone away. Most afternoons the guys would come over after work to visit with him and the gang or just stop by to say hello. Most times Pop was sitting waiting for the deer to come out just to be able to tell everyone how many deer he saw today. On weekends it was the same routine except most of the time someone would cook or if you were lucky enough Pop would cook for you. But most of all Pop really just enjoyed visiting with people. He enjoyed also either being with his tractors or just going on a ride in the woods on his four wheeler. Everyday when someone would arrive he would be working on a different project or if you were lucky enough you could catch him taking a nap, then he would say that he was getting tired waiting for you to show up. After Mom passed away eleven years ago it left him with a very heavy heart. Every once and awhile he would just open up and say how much he missed her and could not wait to be with her, so I guess now his wish finally came true. Pop is leaving behind many family and friends with wonderful memories that everyone will always cherish. He is survived by his son, Ricky D. Luquette and his wife Mary of Erath; daughters, Linda Goutierrez and her husband Larry of Erath and Gaynelle LeBlanc and her husband Henry of Coteau and one brother, Wilfred Luquette of Abbeville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Champagne Luquette; his parents, Onezime Luquette and Edna Duplantis Luquette as well as eleven brothers and sisters. Serving as pallbearers will be Shannon Goutierrez, John Goutierrez, Hagan Goutierrez, Eric LeBlanc, Josh LeBlanc and Kyle Luquette. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curt Menard and Jared Menard.
