Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Karl A. Fortier Sr. , Age 94, at 11:30AM Saturday December 11, 2010 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday December 11. 2010 from 8:00AM until service time. A native of St. Mary Parish and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Fortier died Thursday December 9, 2010 at 2:40PM in a Lafayette health care facility. Mr. Fortier was a 6th generation sugarcane farmer who also enjoyed raising and riding Tennessee Walking horses. Survivors include three daughters, Camille F. Lapeyrouse and husband J.P. of Jeanerette, Susan F. Landry, and Jennifer F. LeBlanc and husband Daniel all of Lafayette and one son; Karl A. Tony Fortier and wife Gretchen of Jeanerette, grandchildren, David and Michael Lapeyrouse, Jeanne L. Clement, Stephen K. and Eric L. Landry, Martin and John Arceneaux, Karl A. Fortier III, Nicole B.Munnerlyn and Butch Bergeron, great grandchildren, Juliette and Marielle Lapeyrouse, Kyle Clement, Laurel and Nicholas Olguin, Heather Rose, Taylor, Thomas and Luke Landry, Madison Catone, Dylan Pride, Alec Arceneaux and Ava Hebert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Thibeaux Fortier and his parents, Florent and Ida Brown Fortier, three brothers, Brown, Louis and Gene Fortier and three sisters, Florrie LaSalle, Ida Fortier and Jonette Lancaster. Pallbearers will be David and Michael Lapeyrouse, Stephen and Eric Landry, Martin and J.T. Arceneaux and Karl A. Fortier III. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Thibeaux, J.P.
