New Iberia - John Robert Minvielle, 74, passed away on Monday, November 25th. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Reich Minvielle; sons, Stephen Minvielle and wife Katie of New Iberia, William Billy Babineaux of Colorado, Brian Minvielle of New Iberia,Ted Minvielle of New Iberia, Katherine M. Roles of Brandon, FL. Kelly Blanchard of Breaux Bridge; brothers, Andrew Minvielle and wife Cecile of New Iberia, James Minvielle and wife Jo-Ann of New Iberia, Thomas Minvielle of New Iberia, William Bill Minvielle and wife Kim of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John, a native and resident of New Iberia was preceded in death by his parents Robert David and Elise Durio Minvielle, and two sisters, Patricia Minvielle and Susan Minvielle.
John was a 1957 graduate of St. Peters College, New Iberia and attended classes at USL before starting a family. He was a proud leader and volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 17 for many years assisting with his sons and others through the scouting experience. Affectionately known as Uncle Johnny to many, he will be remembered as a man who loved nothing better than a gathering of family and friends to enjoy a meal and good times together. Some of his best times were spent relaxing at the camp on Bird Island Chute. Mr. Minvielles career was with the Rosary House; the family business. As the eldest son, he worked alongside his father from a young age until he retired as CEO in early 2000s.
According to his wishes, a memorial service Celebrating His Life will take place. Family will accept visitors on Wednesday November, 27, 2013 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Davids Funeral Home of New Iberia. At 5:30pm family and friends are welcome to share fond memories, stories, or pictures of John. He lived his life as he wished and did it his way Mr. Minvielles ashes will be entombed at a later date alongside his mother and sisters.
