Delcambre " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Elias A. Desormeaux, 81, will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Herb Bennerfeld officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 11:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum. A native and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Desormeaux died at 4:30PM on Monday, November 15, 2010 at a Lafayette Hospital. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, and then became a successful accountant retiring from Entex after over 30 years of service. He was also commander of the Delcambre American Legion and past commander of VFW Post #4158. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Lee Desormeaux of Delcambre; a son, Elias A. Desormeaux and his wife Bettina of Delcambre; a daughter, Denise D. Smith and her husband Stanley of Lafayette; a sister, Joyce Viator of New Iberia, and five grandchildren, Brittney Desormeaux, Callie Desormeaux, Joshua LeBlanc, Jordon LeBlanc, and Angelle Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Demas and Julie Broussard Desormeaux; three brothers, Alvin Desormeaux, Ulysse Desormeaux, and Howard Desormeaux; and two sisters, Lillian Comeaux and Lizzie Mae Bourque. Serving as pallbearers will be Elias Dosormeaux, Jr., Joshua LeBlanc, Elwood LeBlanc, Stanley Smith David Funeral Home of Erath at 209 E. Putnam St. (337)937-0405 will be handling the arrangements.
