Lydia " A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Richard W. Dupre, 94, on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 2:00 PM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Msgr. Jace Eskind officiating. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville with Military Graveside Rites by V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 9:30 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. A native of Montague, a longtime resident of Lydia and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Dupre passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 2:00 PM in a New Iberia nursing facility. He was a Loving and Caring, Honorable, Hardworking Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Mr. Dupre retired from Morton Salt after 42 years of employment. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 365 of Lydia. He was an avid fisherman, loved to trawl, enjoyed gardening and tinkering with small engines. He helped with maintenance at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, volunteered with the St. Nicholas Catholic Church Food Drive, TV 10 Food Net and helped the needy by driving them to doctors appointments. He is survived by his children, Peggy D. Luent and her husband Charles and Marshall Dupre all of Lydia; his grandchildren, Nicole L. Sonnier and her husband Britt of Lafayette, Sharon Seidel and her husband Myron of Pensacola, FL, Maggie L. Hawkins and her husband Mike of Lafayette, Meghan Denise and her husband Brody of Loreauville, Shae Freyou of Deridder, Raven Dupre of Breaux Bridge and Zachri Dupre of Lydia; his great grandchildren, Kate and Jonah Sonnier, Charlie, Alex and Aaron Seidel, Chloe Fielding and Kaylee Denise. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara Landry Dupre; his parents, Wilfred G. Dupre and Josephine A. Hotard Dupre and his brothers, Wilton Freeza , Albert and Johnny Dupre. Pallbearers will be Marshall Dupre, Charles Luent, Zachri Dupre, Britt Sonnier, Mike Hawkins and Gerald Meyers. Honorary pallbearers will be Myron Seidel, Brody Denise and Brock Albert.
